Consuming pre and probiotics may boost absorption of phytoestrogens in women

Daily consumption of a fermented milk product containing probiotic bacteria and prebiotic fibres may increase the availability of soya isofalvaones in women


This is according to a new study in Thailand.  The milk contained Lactobacillus paracasei and the prebiotic fibre was inulin.   The enhanced absorption of the soya may boost the effectiveness of soya in boosting the protective effect of plant oestrogens such as against hot flushes and in bone health.

However, this was only tested on 12 women so more work is needed in this area
